It gives crews a purpose-built alternative to repeatedly striking union lugs with a sledgehammer and can be configured for multiple union sizes and figure numbers. Choosing the correct HUWE configuration
Identify both the nominal union size and the figure number before selecting a head. Each HUWE head is marked for the size and figure combinations it is designed to fit. After choosing the head, select a 24-, 36-, 42- or 46-inch handle according to available space and the approved work procedure. The handles are interchangeable across the listed heads and can be reversed to change the working angle. Do not select a head using pipe size alone.

Design features

Application guidance
Use the head marking to verify the union size and figure number before fitting the tool. The head may be used by itself to position the union wing before the selected handle is attached. Once the handle is installed and locked with the safety pin, operate the wrench only in the direction shown by the arrow on the head and follow the current HUWE operation manual.
Safety and use limitations
- Use only a HUWE head specifically marked for the union size and figure number.
- Confirm that the handle is fully attached and locked with the chained safety pin.
- Apply force only in the direction indicated by the arrow on the head.
- Do not apply force opposite the arrow. The manufacturer warns that this can cause injury or tool damage.
