Description

Hands-off grip for rigid pipe and industrial hose

Handle-Tech Pipe Safety Handles are designed to grip compatible rigid pipe or suction hose from above, helping personnel keep their hands away from the pipe surface and from underneath the load during manual handling. The range covers separate pipe and hose size bands. For drilling, hydraulic fracturing, pipe yards, fabrication, utilities and maintenance work across the Americas, the outside diameter and material must be confirmed before a model is selected.

Applications and grip design

The official product page lists metal, PVC and ABS rigid pipe, plus industrial suction or pumping hose. Each handle has one inch of adjustment and grips at three contact points around approximately 230 degrees of the pipe circumference. The main handle can operate by itself or with a dual-handle grip for load management and control during tasks such as tightening or binding joints.

Selecting the correct model

Measure the actual outside diameter at several points and identify whether the item is rigid pipe or flexible suction hose. Match both the application and diameter range to the correct product family. Also provide the pipe or hose mass, surface condition, temperature, handling task and preferred single or dual-handle arrangement. Do not select a hose model for rigid pipe, or a pipe model for hose, solely because a diameter appears similar.

Manufacturer-listed sizes

Product code Application Listed OD range Listed weight
OHSSU300 Suction hose 3 to 3.75 in 1.4 kg
OHSSU400 Suction hose 4 to 4.75 in 1.5 kg
OHSSU600 Suction hose 6 to 6.75 in 1.7 kg
OHSPI200 Rigid pipe 1.5 to 2.5 in 1.4 kg
OHSPI300 Rigid pipe 2.5 to 3.5 in 1.5 kg
OHSPI400 Rigid pipe 3.75 to 4.75 in 1.5 kg
OHSPI500 Rigid pipe 4.75 to 5.75 in 1.6 kg
OHSPI600 Rigid pipe 5.75 to 6.75 in 1.75 kg

These ranges follow the current product page. The official catalogue lists different ranges for OHSPI400, OHSPI500 and OHSPI600, so confirm the required part code and current OD range in writing.

Construction and stated ratings

The manufacturer describes long-glass nylon construction for durability, impact resistance and wear resistance. The public page states a maximum manual lifting weight of 400 lb / 181 kg and says the tool is engineered to withstand 1200 lb of force. These are manufacturer statements, not a manual-handling recommendation. Personnel, site and task limits may be substantially lower and must control the work.

Safety and use limitations

  • Match the handle to the current manufacturer-listed application and outside diameter.
  • Inspect the body, contact points and handle assembly before use.
  • Keep hands and feet clear of crush zones and never exceed site manual-handling limits.
  • Confirm that contamination, temperature or surface condition does not prevent correct engagement.
  • Resolve the official size-table discrepancy before ordering the three larger pipe models.

Official documentation

Americas selection support

Send OHS USA the measured outside diameter, pipe or hose material, item mass, handling procedure, environmental conditions, required handle arrangement, quantity and destination. For OHSPI400, OHSPI500 or OHSPI600, request written confirmation of the current range because the official sources disagree.

Frequently asked questions

Can the same model handle pipe and hose?

The official range separates suction-hose codes from rigid-pipe codes. Select by application and outside diameter.

How much adjustment does each handle have?

The manufacturer states that each Handle-Tech Pipe Safety Handle has one inch of adjustability.

Why do some diameter ranges need confirmation?

The current product page and official catalogue differ for OHSPI400, OHSPI500 and OHSPI600.

Does the 400 lb statement mean one person should lift that mass?

No. It is a manufacturer-listed tool rating, not permission to exceed personnel or site manual-handling limits.

What details are needed for selection?

Provide application, measured OD, material, item mass, surface condition, task, quantity and work location.
